Joe Gibbs Racing

Joe Gibbs Racing - quite simply a place to work with the best of the best.

My first win with JGR coming at Las Vegas 2024. This was Tyler Allen’s first win as a crew chief as well. A lot of people on this team were extremely experienced and knew how to get it done.

2024 - Present: A New Home

Nearing the end of 2023, Billy V. and I both knew that I was looking to move up from the ARCA series. With his help and our relationship with Toyota, I was able to get connected with a few of the teams competing in the Cup Series, and ironically, the best offer came from the team that had been our rival for the last three years in ARCA - Joe Gibbs Racing.

While I hadn’t pictured this move before, it was the best step I could take heading into 2024 to further my own career. Joe Gibbs Racing is the premier Toyota-back team in the Cup Series with over 200 wins and counting. Being in contention weekly was something I wanted to be a part of in my long-term future, and coming to JGR would cement that.

While I was keen on going straight back to Cup, some opportunities shuffled and ended up in me joining JGR’s Xfinity (NXS) program on the 20 team. Tyler Allen, our crew chief, was coming down to the NXS shop from the Cup engineering side; as someone who was formerly at VMS (albeit a good bit before me), he understood not only my background but also the transition from a small team to the biggest one I’ve ever been to. Getting paired with him, our primary engineer Grayson Pope (who also shared similar experiences coming from Truck championship runs at Hattori Racing), and our experienced car chief Brian Gainey proved immensely beneficial from the get-go. Our results showed from winning three of the first 10 races in 2024, all with different drivers.

Joining the NXS shop was ultimately the transition I needed from ARCA - while the fundamentals of the car and the simulation tools were effectively the same, the “JGR” way of doing things is what I needed to learn the most. The attention to detail and the tight tolerances is what makes the team such a threat across NXS and NCS.

I’m definitely happy to call JGR my home. The tools and technology that the team develops is second to none, and to be able to stick with Toyota after all they have done for my career is the cherry on top. Looking forward to seeing how this place elevates my own skills and what I am able to contribute to this team.
